Technical Views

Technical Analyst, Ashwani Gujral is of the view that Kesoram Industries can touch Rs 670.
Gujral told CNBC-TV18, "It is time probably for cement to start some participation. Kesoram has support at Rs 515 that could be headed for a target of about Rs 670. Rs 430 is possible on the upside in Birla Corporation."

Reliance Energy could head upto Rs 1350 level.

Gujral told CNBC-TV18, "Reliance Energy continues to surprise because now it has now achieved all kinds of targets that we had in mind. So probably one should keep a stop of about Rs 1,100 and just let it ride it, probably it could head upto levels of Rs 1,350. "

He further added, "
Sterlite Industries commodities have started doing well so in that also one could see levels of about Rs 850-900."

Unitech may touch Rs 400.
Gujral told CNBC-TV18, "Interest rate sensitives stocks have a lot of expectations that interest rates will come down.
DLF is a strong counter that should probably head towards Rs 900 in the medium-term. Unitech after some consolidation should go back to about Rs 400."
He further added, "
Indiabulls Real Estate is trading at new highs, it has broken out a few days back that should probably head towards Rs 800, but again I am saying that we need to have a close eye on how much leverage and what kind of cost of carry this market is building up as we go forward because reactions will be quite steep and sharp."

Above Rs 730, Shree Renuka Sugars can touch Rs 900.

Gujral told CNBC-TV18, "If Shree Renuka Sugars can maintain Rs 730 it should look at Rs 900 that tends to move quite fast. It was a bad day today for
Bajaj Hindustan but again support at Rs 170 probably Rs 225 is next. Balrampur Chini is around consolidation levels of Rs 70, we could probably see Rs 90.รถ

Tata Steel can go upto Rs 900.
Gujral told CNBC-TV18, "Metals, is a very strong group, Tata Steel is trading at new highs, I would not be surprised to see this at about Rs 900. I would not be surprised to see
Sterlite at Rs 860-900. SAIL is looking quite strong, Rs 230 could be the next level on SAIL. So, there are things, which are looking strong even in this market."

Technical Analyst, Ashwani Gujral is of the view that once sugar stocks complete consolidation, we could see higher levels.

Gujral told CNBC-TV18, "The initial buying has come in now probably the government needs to do something more for these sugar stocks they have all climbed back above their Rs 200 day moving averages, which at least brings them in to a positive territory. Now from here they probably need to move sideways because this move up was 25%-30% once they can complete a sideways kind of consolidation, we should see higher levels.

Industrial Finance Corporation of India, IFCI has good support between Rs 82-85.

Gujral told CNBC-TV18, "RNRL needs to consolidate big time, I think Rs 65 is a sort of level to which it can correct. For IFCI, Rs 82-85 is probably a good support area that is where it needs to consolidate before it moves on to about Rs 110."
He further added, "Similarly with
Jaiprakash Hydro-Power, it was Rs 55 few days back and suddenly it runs upto Rs 85. All these stocks need to cool off, build fresh bases before they can move higher because the kind of moves they have had, they have probably covered a lot of ground in one day. So now they need to move sideways and make some fresh basing patters here."

Sensex may touch 17500 by Diwali: JM Financial

Atul Mehra, ED & Head-Capital Markets of JM Financial said that they are bullish on power, power transmission and distribution, capital goods, construction, alternate fuel and iron.

Mehra added that they see the
Sensex at 17,500 by Diwali.

According to him, the concerns on crude and interest rates remain. The
Fed cut by 25 bps could see cheer in the equity markets, stated Mehra. There are enough non-US funds moving around in markets to absorb shocks.

Excerpts from CNBC-TV18's exclusive interview Atul Mehra:

Q: We are within striking distance of an all-time high, could we go much higher from here, if so how much?

A: Well we have not seen highs being created; we are going to see newer highs being created. My personal guess is you will see the index somewhere in the region of 17,500 closer to Diwali time. The fundamental reason that gives me motivation to believe that is going to be achieved is liquidity. The same old argument that we have been using for three years still continue to hold true.

Q: Fundamentally, there is a wee bit of a crack coming on the windscreen. You have this IIP number, which is not looking too good. Globally you could see a slowdown because credit is tight. So, would you say that this liquidity argument could get punctured?

A: If you want to add a slight bit of crack, add two more cracks to that. One is the oil price trading at USD 80 a barrel and interest rate, which still continues to trade in the vicinity of 10.5% to 11.5%, which is still high. These are what I call cracks, which are there. The question out over there is all these have been factored into our system, markets are taking note of it and right now corporate India may have given us enough confidence and made us believe that despite all these cracks and uncertainties their numbers will be very much on track and their growth will not be hampered in quarters and years to come ahead.

Q: You are looking at 17,000 by Diwali and perhaps a continued high, where should investors be putting their money sector-wise?

A: Let me give you five or six sectors that I am personally very excited about. Slot numbers one, two and three have been taken up by
power sectors. We are very bullish on power, power transmission, and power distribution. So, all the three sectors in one bucket is the most exciting sector. We are bullish on the construction sector; we are bullish on capital goods as a sector. The two other sectors that are our favourites would be the opportunistic sectors and one of them would be the alternate fuel sector. This is a very interesting sector and I am pretty much excited about this sector.

The second sector, which is again very interesting, would be the resources sector, which is what I call as the metal resources sector, basically back into the iron ore or manganese ore, those kinds of companies. This is a very interesting sector and I would urge investors to look into that.

Technical Views

Technical Analyst, Rajat K Bose is of the view that above Rs 138, IDBI can touch Rs 144-145.
Technical Analyst,
Rajat K Bose is of the view that above Rs 138, Industrial Development Bank of India, IDBI can touch Rs 144-145.
Bose told CNBC-TV18, "IDBI looks pretty good, in fact immediately for a trader the target would be Rs 144-145, once Rs 138 is decisively broken on the upside. Actually, it might scale up that level earlier, much before the medium-term, but it about Rs 155-160."
He further added, "If one looks at the other financial stocks like
IFCI and all, even those stocks are doing pretty well. If Rs 75 is crossed then IFCI will acquire further momentum on the upside."
"Rs 39.50-40 would be the strong resistance point for
UCO Bank. But overall there is a lot of interest in UCO Bank, may be it will cross that level, unless it falls below Rs 36 now and then you can see further upswing happening in that stock as well."
Vivek Mahajan of IL& FS Investmart is of the view that Everest Kanto Cylinder can touch Rs 290.
Mahajan told CNBC-TV18, "Everest Kanto Cylinder makes cylinders for industrial gases, medical gases, CNG cylinders and all that. Right now the company has a capacity of 8 lakh cylinders spread between Aurangabad, Tarapur, Gandhidham and unit in Dubai. Going forward they are setting up a unit in China. While the Dubai unit will be catering to the demand from the Middle East, particularly Iran and also Pakistan, the China unit will be catering to China and Thailand. The demand for CNG is expected to go up manifold in these days to come as more and more gas supply becomes available particularly from the KNG basis and the demand for low pollution fuel.
He further added, รดWe think the company should be reporting an EPS of Rs 12 in the current year and Rs 18 next year. We expect company to grow at a 50% CAGR over the next 3-4 years. By next year, the company should be the largest cylinder manufacturer in the world. The stock is quoting at something like 12-13 times expected next year earnings. We think this stock has the potential to inch upto Rs 290 or thereabouts."
Technical Analyst, Salil Sharma is of the view that Petronet LNG has target of Rs 72.
Sharma told CNBC-TV18, "Petronet LNG has given a good move above Rs 64, which used to be the strong resistance. Above Rs 66, the mild resistance looks quite good. It has moved up on quite heavy volumes. I expect a target of Rs 72 in the short-term and for the long-term holders, they can wait till Rs 90. On the downside, one should keep a short-term stoploss of Rs 60 and continue to ride the wave."

Views of Ashwani Gujral

Technical Analyst Ashwani Gujral is positive on India Cements, ACC Cement and Dena Bank.

Hereฤบs how Ashwani Gujral views the stocks on board:

On fertilizers:

Nagarjuna Fertilizers has sort of achieved a target of Rs 42. The next target here could be Rs 49.

For
Chambal Fertilizer, a target of Rs 63 is possible and Deepak Fertilizer also looks good.

These fertilizers stocks have never moved like this in the past. So, I think a lot of under ownership is probably there and lot of people are getting interested. So, these could have much more way to go than people expect right now.

On
India Cements:

India Cements has now broken through the key resistance of Rs 240-245. You could probably be looking at levels of about Rs 350 on India Cements. That looks the strongest of the cements stocks.

On
ACC Cement:

For ACC, Rs 1,150 is a historical kind of resistance. Historically, September to March has been a golden period for cement. That should hold even this time because construction picks up, so cement is a good sector to be into.

Grasim also looks good for about Rs 3,350 next. A lot of these cement stocks have consolidated quite well and are now beginning to make their upmoves.

On
Dena Bank:

Dena Bank is probably the strongest of the double-digit banks. It has got support at around Rs 50-55 and could be headed to Rs 72.

On
Essar Steel:

Essar steel is not something I track, but most other large steel stocks like Tata steel, SAIL and JSW are headed towards new highs, if they havenฤบt already hit them.

Tata Steel looks strongest, with Rs 730 as the next resistance. Once that is taken out, you could see almost a couple of Rs 100 on Tata Steel.

On
Reliance Energy:

Rs 820 was a previous all time high, so once we get past that, you could easily see Rs 960-980 on Reliance Energy.

Its broken out with very heavy volumes and all Reliance stocks are looking very good.

On
DLF:

DLF is showing strength, even while the market came down. It held the Rs 540-550 kind of level and looks poised to get back up to Rs 700. But it is not my favorite sector.

It is not outperforming. Just one or two stocks tend to show flashes of up move, but overall its not showing a lot of strengths.
