Markets Today

It was a fantastic close for the markets despite some weak international cues. The Sensex and Nifty closed on anew all time high, each up 1%. Sensex closed above 15,700 mark and the Nifty above 4,600 level. Leadership from capital goods was breath taking. BHEL, ABB, L&T were among the top gainers taking the markets to a new high.
United Spirits, Tata Sponge and GMR Infrastructure were among the top gainers on the indices.
BHEL, Bharti, Reliance, Grasim, L&T, HUL closed on all time high.
Sensex was up 166.65 points or 1.07% at 15732.2, and the Nifty up 53.30 points or 1.17% at 4619.35.
About 1303 shares have advanced, 1278 shares declined, and 77 shares are unchanged.
The BSE Midcap Index ended at 6,849.12 up 13 points or 0.2%.
The BSE Smallcap Index ended at 8,234.45 up 46 points or 0.6%.
The BSE Bankex was down 0.6% at 8,347.32. Union Bank, Kotak Mahindra, HDFC Bank, Bank of India, Allahabad Bank moved upwards.
The BSE Capital Goods Index was up 4% at 13,596.20. BHEL, Areva T&D, ABB, Larsen, Gammon India, Punj Lloyd closed higher.
The BSE Health Care Index was down 0.8% at 3,798.44. Sterling Bio, Aventis Pharma, Matrix Lab, Sun Pharma closed lower.
The BSE Auto Index closed at 5,186.46 up 1.2%. Exide Industrie, Bajaj Auto, Hero Honda, Apollo Tyres Cummins advanced.
The BSE Metal Index closed at 12,305.00 up 0.8%. Jindal Steel, JindalStainless, Sterlite Ind, Hindalco advanced.
The BSE FMCG Index gained 2% at 1,867.94. United Spirits, United Brewerie, HUL, Nestle, Colgate closed higher.
BSE Oil and Gas Index closed at 8,210.63 up 1.2%. ONGC, Reliance Natura, Petronet LNG, GAIL ended in green.
The BSE IT Index closed at 4,902.57 down 0.4%. Satyam, Patni Computer, I-Flex Solution, TCS, Tech Mahindra closed lower.
The NSE cash turnover was at Rs 10907.02 crore and the NSE F&O turnover was at Rs 51007.17 crore. The BSE cash turnover was Rs 4825.29 crore. Total market wide turnover was at Rs 66739.48 crore.

Intraday Calls for 23rd July

Nifty support 4500 and Resistance 4570, 4580.
Sensex Support 15440, 15400 and Resistance 15600.

Today Markets may open weak. A 100 points down gap openening expected. In second half it will face some recovery but overall remain nagetive with high volatility.

Buy Tata Steel, Great Offshore, Exide Industries, Rolta, Lok Housing, Srinivasa Shipping, Unitech at lower levels as a weak opening.

Sell Orbit Corp., Voltas, Redington, BPCL, MTNL.

Markets Today

The markets ended flat after seeing a solid start as profit booking was seen during the final hour of trade. Selling pressure was seen in IT, banking, FMCG and oil & gas stocks. However, capital goods, telecom, metal and realty stocks witnessed buying interest.
But on a weekly basis Sensex saw a good close up 1.8% and the BSE Midcap was up 1%.
Tata Steel, L&T and Bharti Airtel were among the top gainers on the indices.
Among the losers were ACC, Bajaj Auto, Cipla and HPCL.
The BSE Midcap Index ended at 6,836.07 up 8 points or 0.12%.
Sensex was up 15.42 points or 0.10% at 15565.55, and the Nifty up 3.95 points or 0.09% at 4566.05.
About 884 shares have advanced, 1675 shares declined, and 52 shares are unchanged
The BSE Smallcap Index ended at 8,188.12 down 70.40 points or 0.85%.
The BSE Bankex was down 0.7% at 8,394.76. Oriental Bank, Bank of India, Allahabad Bank, Federal Bank, Andhra Bank moved downwards
The BSE Capital Goods Index was up 1.5% at 13,070.08. BEML, Kalpataru Power, Thermax, Carborundum, BHEL, Praj Industries closed higher.
The BSE Health Care Index was down 0.3% at 3,830.19. Cadila Health, Cipla, Lupin, Orchid Chemical, Novartis India closed lower.
The BSE Auto Index closed at 5,125.21 down 0.4%. Bajaj Auto, , Punj Tractors, Escorts, Tata Motors, Hero Honda, Ashok Leyland closed lower.
The BSE Metal Index closed at 12,211.10 up 1.5%. Tata Steel, Hind Zinc, JSW Steel, Sesa Goa, SAIL higher.
The BSE FMCG Index closed at 1,829.19 down 0.7%. United Spirits, Bata India, HUL, Colgate closed lower.
BSE Oil and Gas Index closed at 8,111.54 down 0.7%. HPCL, Reliance Natura, BPCL, Reliance Petro, GAIL, ended in green
The BSE IT Index lost 0.7% at 4,921.06. Tech Mahindra, Mphasis, Satyam, I-Flex Solution, Financial Tech closed lower.
The NSE cash turnover was at Rs 12383.82 crore and the NSE F&O turnover was at Rs 48073.22 crore. The BSE cash turnover was Rs 5765.28 crore. Total market wide turnover was at Rs 66222.32 crore.

Markets Today

The markets couldnot maintain its first half momentum and cracked sharply in later trade on the back of profit booking witnessed across the board and ended quiet in marginal red. Auto, metal, capital goods and banking stocks were among the hardest hit, however oil & gas and IT stocks remained in focus today. Market breadth was negative and the volume also was not impressive.
Sensex was down 21.40 points or 0.14% at 15289.82, and the Nifty down 15.40 points or 0.34% at 4496.75.
About 940 shares have advanced, 1671 shares declined, and 65 shares are unchanged.
The BSE Midcap Index ended at 6,789.57 down 45 points or 0.70%.
The BSE Smallcap Index ended at 8,207.77 down 73 points or 0.88%.
The BSE Capital Goods Index closed at 12,782.07 down 1.8%. Siemens, Triveni Engg, Kirloskar Oil, Praj Industries, ABB, Alstom Projects closed lower.
The BSE Health Care Index was up 0.5% at 3,834.22. Nicholas Pirama, Opto Circuits, Dr Reddys Labs, Biocon, Wockhardt closed higher.
The BSE Auto Index closed closed at 5,015.57 down 1.3%. Apollo Tyres, Mah and Mah, Exide Industrie, Bharat Forge, Escorts ended in the red.
The BSE Metal Index closed at 11,881.59 down 1.7%. Sterlite Ind, JindalStainless, JSW Steel, SAIL, Shree Precoated declined.
The BSE FMCG Index closed flat at 1,845.94. Tata Tea, GlaxoSmith Con, United Brewerie, Colgate, Britannia, United Spirits ended in red.
BSE Oil and Gas Index closed up at 7,990.02 up 0.5%. Reliance Natura, Reliance and Gail closed in green.
The BSE IT Index gained 0.6% at 4,874.93. HCL Tech, TCS, Satyam, Wipro, Financial Tech closed weak
The BSE Bankex was down 0.4% at 8,353.68. Union Bank, Canara Bank, SBI, Bank of India, Oriental Bank, Kotak Mahindra closed lower.
BSE Realty index was up 0.8% at 7,977.33. Indiabulls Real, Akruti Nirman, Anant Raj Ind, DLF were the top gainers
The NSE cash turnover was at Rs 12712.08 crore and the NSE F&O turnover was at Rs 45837.68 crore. The BSE cash turnover was Rs 6077.31 crore. Total market wide turnover was at Rs 64627.07 crore.
